Stunning superb fairy wrens dominate my garden all year round. Their constant twitter and trill delights the senses, and their incredible iridescent blue plumage is the most delightful thing to watch. Many families and generations of these lovely birds adorn my shrubs, and have even been known to build a nest in my rose bushes and even my snow pea plants!

They are not shy and will boldly chase down any particularly delicious looking insect for their loved ones, all the while announcing that they have found the family’s dinner with their delightful trill. There should be no surprise that these tiny creatures find themselves modelling so often for my paintings.

I have painted this striking male using professional artist acrylic colour. The canvas itself is very high quality, with strong stretcher bars and cross braces in New Zealand kiln dried timber, and the cotton canvas is triple primed and 380gsm. I only invest in top quality gallery-standard canvases for my art.

I have included some 'In situ' photos, which help us imagine art in our home. Feel free to reach out with pictures of your own space and I can virtually hang the painting for you. In situ photos provided here were created using various apps and may not be perfectly to scale. Photos depicting framed art are for illustrative purposes for your interest and consideration.

While this painting would look best framed, it’s not absolutely necessary. The sides of the artwork have been painted jade green.

Best,
