Gum leaves feature in most of my linen paintings, however today I noticed one single bottlebrush flower in my garden which the parrots haven't found. I picked up the brush and proceeded to paint this pretty red flower - actually I painted three - along with its green-grey leaves and delicate stems. Superb wrens live in my garden and I often hear the call of their young still in the nest, waiting for dinner. I decided a strong male wren would be the perfect accompaniment to the bottlebrush foliage. This painting is an oil painting on very high quality linen, with strong kiln dried New Zealand timber stretcher bars. The negative space created by raw linen is the perfect backdrop, and the linen has been fully sealed and has the subtlest sheen. I have included some 'In situ' photos, which help us imagine art in our home. Feel free to reach out with pictures of your own space and I can virtually hang the painting for you. In situ photos provided here were created using various apps and may not be perfectly to scale. Photos depicting framed art are for illustrative purposes for your interest and consideration.
