Abigail with Red Confetti
Oil on stretched canvas
30 x 41cm
12" x 16"

sorry this painting has found its forever home

Like many of my portrait paintings, I tend to avoid perfect realism, preferring instead to take up a square brush to render skin tones in fractured brush strokes.  Abigail has been painted using the Zorn palette - just red, yellow ochre, black and white.  This produces stunning shades of grey, mauve, olive, pink and salmon, and has become a focal point of my recent creativity.
This painting has a highly unusual textural and thick quality to it, allowing the portrait to be considered semi-abstract.  It is essentially impressionist in style - the best view of Abi is as you step away from her.   She is indeed serious in nature, however a small smirk can be detected in the corner of her lusciously full mouth.
The sides of the artwork are painted pale grey/pink, similar to the top right hand corner of the front of the painting.  I can change this on request before delivery at no extra charge - just get in touch!
